Decorating and repairs in Middlesex

We took on rather a large project recently. A local client asked us to freshen up his bedroom, bathroom and exterior woodwork. It might not sound like much, but there were a few challenges presented as part of the project. The main one was reaching the external woodwork in a safe, industry-standard manner. So we erected safe, reliable tower access to reach those higher spots and guttering, and managed to get it all done with minimum fuss and disruption.

What we did

Starting in the bathroom, we repainted the ceiling with a Perma–White® mould-resistant interior paint from Zinsser. We chose this paint because it’s washable and moisture-resistant, so the clean, bright finish will last and last, even after hundreds of steam-heavy baths and showers!

Next we stripped the bedroom walls and relined with Wallrock Fibreliner which is immensely strong and, as an added bonus, really easy to hang well. We painted the ceiling with Dulux Trade Ultra Matt, which we generally recommend for a pristine, professional finish, and finished up the walls with Dulux’s Gardenia Ultra Matt, which gives a lovely colour that’s non reflective. 

All woodwork, inside and out, was finished with Perma-White® paint and then protected with a layer of Zinsser’s amazing Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer Sealer. Walls and ceilings were prepped and sealed with Gardz® – a water-based sealer – before papering and painting.

Interior Decorating in Listed Building

We washed down the exterior areas and undercoated them with Bulls Eye 1-2-3, before painting with Zinsser’s specifically developed AllCoat® Exterior. Finally, we tickled up the windowsills and Rustins Step & Tile Paint and replaced some lower guttering that had seen better days.

Working with the best

This project is a great demonstration of where industry knowledge is essential. Without knowing which primers, sealer, wallpaper and durable paints to use (and where to use them), a fresh decoration wouldn’t last half as long.
